Too many years ago I was given a kind gift of copper triangles, half circles and some other odd shapes.  Fall 2008 I decided to commit myself to doing something special with the copper.  I have started a weekly blog documenting the progress of a show I am calling "One with Copper".  The main theme/spirit for the show is the "Art of Playing" and that is exactly the intent of the whole process of the show.  I didn't want to do a show with just etchings hung on a wall in a gallery.  The show is going to include the whole process of getting to the gallery.

I love mucking about with ink, solutions, and image ideas.  I do not like sanding and filing copper plates!  To reward myself I take the plates to a location out and about the Island or I do a still life arrangement in the studio.  I take many many pictures, and then I pick a few for my blog to show everyone.  The copper plates unetched are beautiful to photograph.  Depending on the lighting and how I set my point and shoot digital camera (Canon Powershot A540), I get all kinds of wonderful color effects.

The main idea for the whole show is the process of creating and keeping it open, fun, with lots of exploration. At present the show will have a finished copper sculpture, hand pulled prints, photo collages and a Video show of the installations made each week.
